چکیده

Dengue fever (DF) and dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) are important mosquito-borne viral diseases of humans and recognised as important emerging infectious diseases in the tropics and subtropics. There has been a considerable increase in the geographic spread, number of cases and severity of the disease in the past four decades, since there is a drastic change in the environment due to rapid urbanization and increase in transportation facilities in several parts of India. Thus, the disease once confi ned to urban areas has now penetrated in to rural areas with several outbreaks from rural areas.

ELISA as an alternative tool for epidemiological surveillance for dengue in mosquitoes: a report from Thailand.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Dengue fever (DF), dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and dengue shock syndrome (DSS) are the re-emerging infectious diseases caused by the four serotypes of dengue (DEN) virus, type 1 to 4, belonging to the family Flaviviridae and genus Flavivirus. In the absence of a safe and effective mass immunisation, the prevention and control of dengue outbreaks depend upon the survei...

Early Detection for Dengue Using Local Indicator of Spatial Association (LISA) Analysis

Dengue is a viral disease caused by a flavivirus that is transmitted by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes. There is currently no specific treatment or commercial vaccine for its control and prevention; therefore, mosquito population control is the only alternative for preventing the occurrence of dengue. For this reason, entomological surveillance is recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) t...

The geographic information system as an epidemiological tool in the surveillance of dengue virus-infected Aedes mosquitos.

A Geographic Information System (GIS) was used as analysis tool to study the spatial distribution of dengue virus-infected Aedes mosquitos in Thailand. Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments were used to map villages involved in dengue epidemiological studies in Ratchaburi Province, Thailand. Differentially processed GPS data, with a spatial resolution of approximately 1 meter, were incorp...
